Apparently this was actually a thing in Vegas.
Apparently this was actually a thing in Vegas.

Well, my play opened this weekend, and we got standing ovations at both performances. Admittedly, it’s just community theater, and I definitely botched one line in both performances (I rush it too much), but I think we have reason to be satisfied with ourselves. However, it’s time for a story challenge and this one is going to be… fun. Admittedly, as a friend of mine pointed out today, I have a different definition of fun.

You’ve done this kind of story challenge before, but it is fairly complicated. I’m going to give you a series of criteria including genre, theme, some character archtypes, etc. Your job is to write a story that includes all of the features required in the challenge. If you intend to post it here, please keep it short. However, the complexity of this challenge often requires a longer story.

Theme: Circus Macabre

Genre: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Dark Fantasy

Setting: A Small City in the Old West

Character Archetypes:

1) The Living Dead Girl (yes, I know it’s a Rob Zombie song… no I don’t like the song)

2) An Indian Convenience Store Owner

3) A Demented Robot Wizard

4) The Thing from Beyond that Only Eats Macaroni and Cheese

Items:

1) A Tome of Living Necromantic Power

2) A Derringer

3) An Empty Box
